A person selling video games was attacked by the potential buyer with a chemical agent and robbed in California, authorities said.

The victim had placed an ad on social media to sell video games, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Christopher Baselyos, 24, reached out to the seller about buying one or more games and arranged to meet them in Thousand Oaks, according to the news release.

Thousand Oaks is about 40 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

Upon arrival, Baselyos pulled out a “large can of chemical agent and sprayed the victim’s face, beck and upper body with it,” officials said. Baselyos is accused of taking property from the victim and fleeing the area.

During subsequent investigation, the East Country Major Crimes Unit was able to identify Baselyos as the suspect, and he was arrested in Moorpark on Tuesday, May 24, the release said.

He is charged with robbery and is being held on a $200,000 bail, officials said.
