Searchers on Thursday recovered the body of an Arizona man who went missing in the Sacramento River in Colusa after going underwater Sunday evening.

Damon Evans, 19, of Casa Grande, Arizona, was last seen in the water off Colusa’s Levee Park. His body was retrieved from the river about 1 p.m., just east of the park and about 20 feet from shore, Colusa County Sheriff’s officials said in a statement Thursday.

Colusa County and Sacramento County Sheriff’s teams using remote-controlled search vehicles and search dogs combed the river east of Levee Park since Monday with no success.

A Colusa County Sheriff’s water safety team returned to the river Thursday to renew their search when a cadaver dog from California Office of Emergency Services alerted deputies to Evans’ body.
