Man shot and killed after gunfire erupts at engagement party in California, cops say
An Anaheim man died after being shot in the parking lot of a local banquet hall where an engagement party was being held, police in California say.
On Sept. 4 around 11 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Devonshire officers responded to a radio call that a man had been shot in Northridge, according to a news release by LAPD.
When they arrived, they found 29-year-old, Edgar Rodriguez dead at the scene after a man fired multiple rounds from a handgun to his chest, according to the news release.
An altercation began inside the banquet hall before moving outside, at which point the victim was shot multiple times and a man in his 40s fled from the scene, police told CBS Los Angeles.
Rodriguez was identified by his family who were also in attendance at the engagement party, according to Newsweek. His children and wife were among hundreds of guests.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to an arrest in the murder of Rodriguez, officials said. Authorities did not provide any additional description of the shooter.
