Woman hears noises in bedroom before police find man in closet with knife, CA cops say
A woman was in her California home when she heard noises coming from a bedroom, police said.
She called the police and waited for them outside while on the line with dispatchers, police said.
It was about 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, police said in a news release. When officers arrived at the Benicia home, they found a man hiding inside her bedroom closet with a folding knife and a roll of duct tape, police said.
They later found his car in the area. He struggled with officers briefly before they arrested him and booked him into the Solano County jail. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree burglary, KRON4 reported.
His bail is set at $55,000, according to booking documents.
“The victim was physically unharmed, and we are providing as much support as possible after this traumatizing incident,” police said in a statement.
A police spokesperson told ABC10 there did not appear to be any “known connection between the victim and the suspect.” Police are investigating whether there are connections with other cases or other victims, the outlet reported.
