See how fast California gas prices are rising as US average holds steady

Don’t expect gas prices to take a dip anytime soon.

A “trend of small increases” in national gas prices will likely occur this week, Andrew Gross, an American Automobile Association spokesperson, stated in a news release on Feb. 16.

The national average for regular fuel is $3.40 per gallon, as of Feb. 21 — holding steady from last week’s average of $3.41. That said, California’s prices are much higher.

The current average for regular fuel in California is $4.74. This is up roughly 9 cents from last week’s average of $4.65. The cost could rise above $5 a gallon by March due to several factors, including demand, experts previously told The Bee.
