Video: Sonora Pass crews clearing snow in both directions meet, but route still closed

Caltrans crews snow in both directions over the Sonora Pass met up for the first time this week since massive snowfall from winter and spring storms closed the summit, video shows.

Despite clearing the eight to 10 feet of snow from Highway 108 in Northern California , crews haven’t reopened the mountain pass. They still need to deal with flooding issues, remove fallen trees and rocks and repair potholes and guardrails before the Sierra route can open.

Sonora Pass connects the town of Sonora to the west with Bridgeport to the east. Mono County maintenance crews from Caltrans District 9 met up with their Tuolumne County counterparts from Caltrans District 10 on Tuesday.
