150-pound pig known as Professor Truffles looking for home where he can ‘trim down’
He may be named Professor Truffles, but this 9-year old pig prefers “noshing on carrots and apples than in seeking out the pricey fungi,” according to a nonprofit.
Despite his seemingly healthy diet, the 150-pound-pig is a touch overweight and is in search of a new home where he can “trim down,” the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in California said in a July 27 news release.
“Professor Truffles is extremely friendly and will make a wonderful pet for someone who has the space he’ll need to thrive and live a happy life,” Buffy Martin Tarbox, the nonprofit’s communications manager, said in the release.
Professor Truffles’ previous owners dropped him off at the shelter when they couldn’t bring him along for their move, Tarbox said.
Tarbox said they want to find Professor Truffles a home with “experienced pig owners where he will be kept as a pet, not a source of food.”
The senior pot-bellied pig loves fresh veggies and a good head scratch, the nonprofit said in a July 11 Facebook post.
“If you think I’m the pig for you, come by and say hello,” the nonprofit wrote.
