‘Tuscan chateau’ estate for sale in California once was a director’s home. Take a peek
The remarkable estate of a once-famous film director has landed on the real estate market in Los Angeles.
The residence was built in 1927 for American golfer Clement Eyer Smoot by architect Henry Harwood Hewitt, who was best known for his work on the Alice Lynch home in L.A. However, the estate was also lived in by British film director and actor in “Frankenstein,” James Whale, a news release says.
While it does have an excellent Hollywood pedigree, the home’s beauty is what stands out the most.
