Mega Millions player wins big in California. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Mega Millions ticket sold in California won $284,808 and narrowly missed the $181 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Mega Ball in the drawing Tuesday, July 9, the California Lottery said.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $203 million, with a cash option of approximately $95 million, for the next drawing Friday, July 12, the site said.
The winning numbers were 21, 26, 54, 60 and 64 with a Mega Ball of 3. The Megaplier was 3.
The $284,808 ticket was sold at a gas station in Redlands, about a 65-mile drive east from Los Angeles.
Nearly 81,000 other tickets sold in California won prizes ranging from $2 to $20,000 in the drawing, the lottery said.
The Mega Millions jackpot has gone unclaimed since June 4, when an Illinois player hit the $552 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
