A 33-year-old man accused of throwing a woman onto train tracks and then into oncoming freeway traffic has been charged, California officials said.

On Aug. 7, Juan Pablo Flores physically assaulted a woman at the Metro station in Pasadena, according to an Aug. 12 news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

After punching her in the head, police told the Los Angeles Times, he threw her on the train tracks, prosecutors said.

Then he is accused of throwing her into oncoming traffic on the carpool lane of the nearby freeway, officials said.

The woman was transported to a hospital, officials said. The extent of her injuries was not provided by officials.

She was in stable condition as of Aug. 8, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Flores was arrested and charged with attempted murder and mayhem, officials said.

Prosecutors didn’t specify if Flores knew the woman.

If convicted, he will face a maximum sentence of life in prison, officials said.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 13, officials said.

Pasadena is about a 10-mile drive northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
