Pup overcame a heartbreaking past. Now Millie needs a home to ‘finally relax’

A dog who had a hard start in the world is now living it up thanks to some love and compassion, a California shelter said.

Now she needs a permanent home.

Millie was found on Sept. 21 in a soul-shattering way, the San Diego Humane Society said. But soon after she was taken in by a foster, her entire world shifted for the better.

“Although it can be heartbreaking to see an animal come into our care under tough circumstances, nothing compares to the joy of watching them thrive once they receive the love and care they deserve,” the shelter said in Oct. 9 Facebook post.

“This was the case with Millie, who was left tied to an electrical box at our Oceanside Campus. While our team provided the immediate care she needed, her true transformation began once she was placed in a foster home. There, she could finally relax, heal and learn what it means to be loved.

“Just look at these photos — proof of the incredible impact fostering can have!”

According to her pet profile, Mille — who was known as Princess Organa — has a limp due to an “altered gait” which gives her a “bow-legged strut.”

“In fancy terms, means her stroll has a bit of extra flair, thanks to some conformational quirks,” her profile said. “Don’t worry, though-Princess Organa doesn’t let a little pelvic tilt or her limp slow her down.”

Millie prefers a calm lifestyle filled with warm sun naps and playing outside.

“She has been a DREAM to host! She is such a sweet girl,” Millie’s foster mom, Whitney Kofford, said in a Facebook comment.
