Mind-blowing images capture newly discovered comet soaring across night sky. See them

A newly discovered comet blazes across night skies over Arizona, California, Hawaii and Washington in a series of images posted online.

Photos and videos posted from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center in California, Mount Adams in Washington, Northern California and Coconino National Forest in Arizona show the comet.

Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS was discovered in January 2023 between the orbits of Jupiter and Saturn, the Bell Museum said. It’s also known as C/2023 A3.

Researchers at observatories in China and South Africa discovered the comet, according to the museum. It will pass within 44 million miles of the Earth this month.

The comet is expected to remain visible through October.
