Dazzling house that’s ‘never been on the market’ lists in California. Take a look

A four-bedroom home has landed on the real estate market in Los Angeles, California, for $3.5 million.

While the home itself is beyond enchanting, one of its most appealing aspects is it’s “never been on the market.”

“Set in a prime Cheviot Hills location on a large flat lot, The Reicher House (1956) by A. Quincy Jones, FAIA, is a gorgeous mid-century marvel,” the news release about the house says.

Jones is one of the most recognizable modern architects whose work includes over 5,000 structures throughout the Golden State, Modern Living LA says. This particular home has a lot of his signature features throughout.

“Walls of glass flood the home with natural light while the lush landscaping and pool draw your attention outside for indoor/outdoor living, hallmarks of A. Quincy Jones and the Southern California lifestyle,” the listing on Sotheby’s International Realty says.

“The skylights of this home are ideally located. One is set above the living room fireplace, while the covered patio features multiple skylights and open-air cut-outs allowing light to pierce through and create an artistic effect.”

Features include:

  • Chef’s kitchen

  • Large dining

  • Separated primary suite

  • Multiple bathrooms

  • Breakfast room

  • Garage

The residence was also featured in the 20th Century Fox TV show “Single Parent” in 2019, the release said.

“Our dad, Norman Reicher, was always ahead of his time - both in his thinking and his personal style. He admired A. Quincy Jones’ architectural vision and wanted a home that both reflected a forward-thinking, functional style and integrated beautifully, seamlessly, and organically with its natural surroundings,” Reicher’s daughter, Shelley Reicher-Lawrence said in the release.

“Choosing A. Quincy Jones to build our home was a reflection of that. Jones beautifully executed our dad’s vision of designing a timeless home - innovative, elegant, and a place where our family could grow and create lifelong memories.”

The listing is held by Joseph Cilic and Bruno Abisror of Sotheby’s International Realty – Pacific Palisades Brokerage.
