Two Powerball players just miss $20 million jackpot in California — but still win big
Two Powerball tickets sold in California won $26,760 each but just missed the $20 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The tickets matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Monday, Dec. 9, the California Lottery said.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $30 million, with a cash value of $14.5 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Dec. 11, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 35, 37, 40, 45 and 51, with a Powerball of 24, the lottery said. The Power Play was 2x.
More than 250,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last claimed Dec. 7, when a New York player won the $256 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
