Powerball player misses $92 million jackpot in California — but still wins big
A Powerball ticket sold in California won $31,776, but just missed the $92 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Dec. 21, the California Lottery said.
A player in Illinois won $1 million, and players in Idaho and New Jersey won $2 million.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $103 million, with a cash value of $47 million, for the next drawing Monday, Dec. 23, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 1, 12, 17, 21 and 58, with a Powerball of 1, the lottery said. The Power Play was 3x.
More than 500,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot has not been claimed since Dec. 7, when a New York player won the $256 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
