A Beverly Hills OB-GYN sexually violated more than 100 women, including during exams and vaginal births, for decades, according to a new lawsuit.

Barry J. Brock abused female patients — and caused many physical pain — for his own “sadistic needs” while acting as if he was providing medically necessary care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills and other centers he worked for, a complaint says.

The lawsuit filed Dec. 27 on behalf of 107 women is the third brought against Brock and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by the DiPietro Law Firm and Arias Sanguinetti, the firms announced in a news release.

The women are “business professionals, financial executives, entertainers, artists, medical providers, stay at home moms, and a military veteran who selflessly served our country in an effort to protect our Freedoms and keep us safe,” the complaint says.

Cedars-Sinai and the other institutions are accused of protecting Brock in what the lawsuit calls a “criminal-cover up.”

There are now 167 female patients who are suing Brock that are represented by the DiPietro Law Firm and Arias Sanguinetti.

“Cedars-Sinai Medical Center knew about Barry Brock’s sexual exploitation and abuse of patients for decades,” attorney Anthony T. DiPietro said in a statement. “But instead of protecting their patients, the only thing Cedars did was lie, gaslight, and help cover up Brock’s misconduct—while exposing a countless number of new and unsuspecting patients to a known serial sexual predator.”

McClatchy News was unable to immediately reach Brock for comment Jan. 3.

Brock, who’s 74, has previously refuted all sexual misconduct accusations, the Los Angeles Times reported.

In a statement to McClatchy News on Jan. 3, a Cedars-Sinai spokesperson said “the type of behavior alleged about Dr. Barry Brock is counter to Cedars-Sinai’s core values and the trust we strive to earn every day with our patients.”

“Dr. Brock no longer has privileges to practice medicine at Cedars-Sinai, and we have reported this matter to the California Medical Board,” the spokesperson said.

The lawsuit was also filed against Beverly Hills OB-GYN and Rodeo Drive Women’s Health Center. The facilities didn’t immediately respond to McClatchy News’ requests for comment Jan. 3.

A criminal investigation

In August 2024, Cedars-Sinai terminated Brock after investigating “concerning complaints from patients,” a spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times, the newspaper reported Sept. 14.

This was done “quietly,” the latest lawsuit says.

Afterward, Brock tried to tell several patients that he had plans to retire, according to the DiPietro Law Firm and Arias Sanguinetti.

According to the lawsuit, a criminal investigation into Brock is underway. The complaint says that he’s being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The LAPD told McClatchy News on Jan. 3 that the Beverly Hills Police Department is handling the investigation.

The Beverly Hills Police Department didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry from McClatchy News.

‘Brock the Butcher’

The lawsuit says there are “hundreds, if not thousands” of women betrayed by Brock.

In the latest 190-page complaint, the individual experiences of the 107 plaintiffs are detailed.

“Brock’s serial misconduct involves covert, and overt, acts of fraud, fraudulent concealment, misogyny, objectification, sadism, sexual exploitation, and sexual abuse … ,” the complaint says.

The abuse the women endured included unnecessary sexualized touching during gynecological exams and treatment, inappropriate and sexual comments as well as “countless” sexual assaults during vaginal births, according to the complaint.

The complaint says “numerous patients have referred to Brock as ‘Brock the Butcher’ because of the number of ‘blood-bath’ deliveries performed by Brock that resulted in massive maternal hemorrhages due to his own sexual gratification that occurred through vaginal births.”

Brock is accused of pushing some patients to have vaginal deliveries, instead of cesarean deliveries, to sexually abuse them, the complaint says.

One former patient who’s a plaintiff experienced a “serious” tear during her first pregnancy and couldn’t deliver her baby vaginally, according to the complaint.

However, Brock insisted on a vaginal delivery and refused a C-section for his “sexual gratification,” the complaint says.

After she spent more than 37 hours in painful labor, Brock allowed a C-section, according to the complaint.

When Brock delivered her second child, she begged him for a C-section, the complaint says.

He refused and used a vacuum device to deliver her second child, according to the complaint.

Brock “used such excessive force as he pulled (her) baby out” that “she suffered a painful and serious vaginal tear,” the complaint says.

After Brock gave her “extra stitches” for the tear that weren’t necessary, the woman can no longer have sexual intercourse with her husband, according to the complaint.

With the lawsuit, she and the other plaintiffs want to hold Cedars-Sinai and the other medical institutions accountable.

The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and an unspecified amount in damages.

“Our office has already been contacted by over 200 former patients of Barry Brock,” DiPietro said in a statement.

“Our court filings are just the beginning of the larger effort to expose the full extent of this cover-up.”
