A man offering drugs trapped a woman inside a bathroom at a California pub and raped her, prosecutors said.

Now, a jury has found Stephen Earl Guice, 51, of Seaside, guilty of forcible rape and false imprisonment stemming from the April incident, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said in Feb. 3 news release.

The 18-year-old woman went to a Monterey sports pub with two friends April 4, prosecutors said.

There, they met Guice, who prosecutors say offered the woman and one of her friends drugs.

Once inside a bathroom stall, Guice gave the drugs to the pair, who began to doubt their decision, prosecutors said.

They tried to leave the bathroom, however, Guice refused to let them do so unless they took the drugs, according to prosecutors.

Guice allowed the woman’s friend to leave once she consumed some drugs, prosecutors said.

Then, he trapped the lone woman inside the bathroom by locking the door and sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said.

When Guice left the bathroom, the woman’s friends rushed in and found her “sobbing on the bathroom floor, with bruises forming on her shoulders,” prosecutors said.

The woman’s friends took her to a nearby hospital, where DNA evidence was collected, according to prosecutors.

Through testing, officials confirmed the DNA found on the woman belonged to Guice, prosecutors said.

With two prior “strike” convictions, Guice faces a potential 25 years to life prison sentence, prosecutors said.

Monterey is about a 120-mile drive southwest of San Francisco.
