A homeowner accused of chasing a door-to-door salesperson with a gun has been arrested, California police said.

Petaluma police officers responded to a report of a man brandishing a gun at a salesperson just before 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 21, the police department said in an April 27 news release.

The caller told dispatchers the armed homeowner “was actively chasing the salesperson,” police said.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the salesperson and the homeowner, identified as 67-year-old Michael Greenwood, police said.

Police said they learned Greenwood got a gun from inside his house and went outside, “brandishing the weapon.”

He then yelled threats at the salesperson, according to police.

Greenwood was booked into jail on counts of criminal threats and brandishing a fire arm, police said.

At the time of his arrest, Greenwood refused to let officers take his gun, police said.

However, he surrendered his weapon after police got a 21-day gun violence restraining order approved, the department said.

Petaluma is about a 40-mile drive north from San Francisco.
