Powerball player wins big in California. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player in California won $25,221, just missing the $46 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, May 3, the California Lottery site said.
The lucky ticket was sold at the Gold Ranch Lottery Store in Floriston, which is about a 110-mile drive northwest from Sacramento, lottery officials told McClatchy News.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $54 million, with a cash value of about $24.8 million, for the next drawing Monday, May 5, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 10, 21, 23, 35 and 65, with a Powerball of 24, the site said. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
Nearly 400,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won April 26, when a Kentucky player hit the $167 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
