Powerball player wins big in California. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player in California won $28,828, just missing the $120 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, June 21, the California Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was sold at Samco Food Store in Bakersfield, lottery officials said in an email to McClatchy News.
California adjusts lottery prizes based on the number of tickets sold and number of winners.
Two tickets sold in the U.S. won millions of dollars. A ticket sold in Minnesota won $1 million, while one sold in Tennessee ticket hit the Power Play multiplier to win $2 million.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $128 million, with a cash value of about $57.6 million, for the next drawing Monday, June 23, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 3, 16, 32, 52 and 62, with a Powerball of 24. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.
More than 435,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
