A man accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a Salinas gas station clerk in 2023 will face 45 years in prison after pleading guilty, California prosecutors said.

Cosme Ramos, 28, of Salinas pleaded guilty June 26 to forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by a foreign object, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said in a July 1 news release.

Attorney information for Ramos was not immediately available.

Ramos pointed a gun at a clerk in a Salinas gas station and demanded “everything” on Oct. 13, 2023, prosecutors said. The clerk gave him about $900 from the cash register.

Ramos then forced the woman to drive him in her vehicle to the Carr Lake area, where he forced her to engage in sex acts with the gun pointed at her head, prosecutors said.

When he tried to pull off her pants, the woman ran away and Ramos also fled, prosecutors said. Police arrested him following an investigation.

Ramos will be sentenced to 45 years in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender on Oct. 14, prosecutors said.

Salinas is about a 105-mile drive south from San Francisco.
