Powerball player wins big in California. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player in California won $44,624, just missing the $293 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, July 19, the California Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was sold at Royal Pin Donuts in South San Francisco, lottery officials told McClatchy News in an email.
The winning numbers were 28, 48, 51, 61 and 69 with a Powerball of 20. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.
Powerball jackpot rises
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $308 million, with a cash value of about $137.7 million, for the next drawing Monday, July 21, the national Powerball site said.
More than 580,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
