A 44-year-old man was arrested after being accused of committing sex actswith a minor, a California sheriff’s department said.

The man, identified as Joseph Duran, from Aliso Viejo, was working as an assistant basketball coach at Dana Hills High School, according to an Aug. 13 news release by Orange County deputies.

While working as a coach, Duran is accused of grooming a minor and engaging in sex acts with her, deputies said.

Deputies didn’t specify if the girl was on the basketball team.

Duran also worked as a coach for a basketball club in San Juan Capistrano known as SOCAL FINS, deputies said.

McClatchy News reached out to the Capistrano Unified School District for a statement on Aug. 14 and was awaiting a response.

Duran was arrested and booked into jail on charges of oral copulation with a minor under the age of 18, deputies said.

Due to Duran being a basketball coach of underage girls, authorities believe there may be more victims and ask anyone with information to call 714-647-7419.

Orange County is about a 35-mile drive southeast from downtown Los Angeles.
