Powerball players win big in California. Where were the lucky tickets sold?
Four Powerball tickets sold in California won $30,687 each, just missing the $777 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The tickets matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Monday, Aug. 25, the California Lottery said.
The lucky tickets were sold at Grape Press Liquor in Anaheim, Set For Life Liquor in Inglewood, Al’s Short Stop in Escondido and Olive Foodmart in Bakersfield, lottery officials told McClatchy News in an email.
Tickets sold in Georgia and Texas won $1 million each.
The winning numbers were 16, 19, 34, 37 and 64 with a Powerball of 22. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.
Powerball jackpot rises
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $815 million, with a cash value of about $367.9 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Aug. 27, the national Powerball site said.
More than 1.5 million other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize.
