A mother and father stopped an “erratic” 23-year-old woman from abducting their 4-year-old daughter, California sheriff’s deputies reported.

A deputy responding to a report of an attempted kidnapping in Fontana found the parents holding the woman down just after 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Sariaha Hannah Lopez, 23, of San Bernardino, attacked the mom and tried to kidnap the child, deputies said.

She was arrested on a charge of attempted kidnapping, deputies said.

The father and child were unharmed, but the mother had injuries to her face and upper body, deputies said.

Lopez is on probation in connection with the assault of a police officer with a deadly weapon, deputies said.

Investigators ask anyone with information to call 909-356-6767.

Fontana is about a 50-mile drive east from Los Angeles.
