Stranger offers teen a ride to school, then sexually assaults her, CA cops say
A man offered a teenage girl waiting at a bus stop a ride to school, then sexually assaulted her, California police say.
Oscar Jimenez Larios, 39, of Glendora, was charged Oct. 8 in connection with multiple child luring and sexual assault incidents, the West Covina Police Department said in a news release shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Attorney information for Larios was not immediately available.
As a teenage girl waited at a West Covina bus stop in February, Larios is accused of approaching her and convincing her that he’d give her a ride to school, police said.
However, instead of driving her to school, “Larios drove to a nearby parking lot in West Covina, where he sexually assaulted (her),” police said.
“She was able to flee the vehicle and report the incident to law enforcement,” West Covina police Sgt. Steven Spagon told KABC.
Then, in October, Larios was seen trying to lure two more teenage girls near a West Covina middle school and elementary school, police said.
“We were able to basically piece those investigations together because of the similarities,” Spagon told KABC.
Detectives arrested Larios on Oct. 6, police said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple charges against Larios, including two counts of lewd and lascivious acts upon a minor and three counts of annoying and molesting a child, according to police.
Larios is being held on $290,000 bail, police said.
Anyone with information about Larios or similar incidents is asked to contact police at 626-939-8534.
West Covina is about a 20-mile drive east from Los Angeles.
