One powerful storm called a “Christmas miracle” delivered enough snow to fire up Lake Tahoe area skiers for the 2025-26 season — and expert skier Carson McCarron dramatically showed why in recent videos.

“After days of anticipation, the snow dances paid off and a Christmas miracle took shape,” Palisades Tahoe spokesman Patrick Lacey said in a Dec. 26 email. “Palisades Tahoe has gone from zero to hero over the past few days as a powerful storm delivered deep December snow.”

On the day after Christmas, Palisades Tahoe received 21 inches at 8,000 feet, bringing the storm total to 64 inches, or more than five feet of snow.

Palisades Tahoe, in Olympic Valley near the north shore of Lake Tahoe, wasn’t the only mountain enjoying the new fallen snow.

“We received 51 inches of snow over the past week,” Heavenly Ski Mountain in South Lake Tahoe announced on its website today.
