Gambler hits early-morning jackpot on slot machine, California casino says

A gambler at Thunder Valley Casino Resort near Sacramento hit a $136,158 jackpot on a progressive slot machine Sunday, casino officials reported.

The player won the jackpot at 4:35 a.m. in the high-limit area, the casino said in a news release.

“Whether it’s late at night or early in the morning, guests are winning here,” said Dawn Clayton, resort general manager. “You never know when that moment is going to happen.”

Gamblers won 251,923 jackpots on slot machines and electronic games at the casino from Dec. 16, 2024, through Dec. 15, 2025, and averaged 700 jackpots a day, the casino said.

“When you look at those numbers over a full year, it really puts things in perspective,” Clayton said.

Thunder Valley Casino Resort at 1200 Athens Ave. in Lincoln has 3,500 slot machines and 89 table games. It is about a 20 miles northeast of Sacramento.
