Disney California Adventure marks 25th anniversary with ride change, costumes

Disney California Adventure is celebrating its 25th anniversary at the Disneyland Resort.

The Anaheim, California, theme park opened in 2001 along with Downtown Disney and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the resort said.

“Soarin’ Over California,” which debuted at the park’s opening, will return from Feb. 6 through July 1. The program was later replaced by “Soarin’ Around the World.”

On July 2, the new “Soarin’ Over America” program will debut, Disney said.

Also on Feb. 6, Mickey and Minnie Mouse will appear on Buena Vista Street in new costumes celebrating the 25th anniversary for a limited time.

Clothing, pins, a new shake and a novelty popcorn bucket also will be available for the anniversary.

At Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Humphrey the Bear will join the Storytellers Cafe, Disney said. A special pin also will be available for purchase at the hotel.

At Downtown Disney, visitors can pick up a special tote and pin to mark the anniversary. Special foods and drinks also will be available at restaurants.
