Player just misses $31 million jackpot — but still wins big in California

A SuperLotto Plus ticket sold in Southern California fell just one number short of winning the $31 million jackpot, lottery officials said.

Instead, the lucky player won $35,578.

The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the mega number in the drawing Wednesday, Feb. 26, the California State Lottery said.

The winning numbers were 6, 40, 41, 44 and 45, with a mega number of 13, the site said.

Where was the lucky SuperLotto Plus ticket sold?

The lucky ticket was sold at Stallion Market at 10150 Stonehurst Street in Sun Valley, which is about 20 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, the lottery said.

What is the SuperLotto Plus jackpot now?

Nobody won the grand prize, which grows to an estimated $32 million, with a cash value of about $14.8 million, for the next drawing Saturday, Feb. 28.

More than 100,000 other SuperLotto Plus tickets sold in California also won prizes ranging from $1 to $3,500, the lottery said.

The SuperLotto Plus jackpot was last won Dec. 11 when a ticket purchased in Artesia, near Los Angeles, won $47 million, the Sacramento Bee reported.
