Northern California player hits big Powerball prize. Where was lucky ticket sold?

A Powerball ticket sold in Northern California fell just one number short of winning the $59 million jackpot, lottery officials said.

Instead, the lucky ticket won $36,646.

The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, March 11, the California State Lottery said.

California adjusts lottery prizes based on the number of tickets sold and number of winners.

Where was winning Powerball ticket sold in California?

The lucky ticket was sold at an Arco AM/PM store at 2250 Balfour Road in Brentwood, lottery officials said. It’s a little less than 50 miles southwest of downtown Sacramento.

What were winning numbers in Wednesday’s drawing?

The winning numbers were 3, 6, 55, 58 and 63 with a Powerball of 12.

The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

Tickets sold in Illinois and Missouri won $1 million each, the national Powerball site said.

What is the Powerball jackpot up to now?

Nobody won the jackpot, which rises to an estimated $75 million, with a cash value of about $34.6 million, for the next drawing Saturday, March 14, the national Powerball site said.

More than 325,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said. There were more than 35,000 winners in California.

The Powerball jackpot was last won March 2, when an Arkansas player won the $251 million jackpot.

How to play Powerball lottery game

To score a jackpot in Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

Powerball drawings are broadcast Saturday, Monday and Wednesday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.

The next drawing will be Saturday, March 14.
