Legendary producer and musician Alan Parsons came to the rescue when his friend Mexican singer-songwriter Aleks Syntek could not secure work visas for his musicians for his upcoming U.S. tour.
“For this occasion, a problem arose—because, as you know, things are difficult for Latinos in the United States right now—and we weren’t able to secure work visas for my musicians in time. So, I’m going to bring Alan Parsons’ musicians instead,” said the renowned pop-rock star who is celebrating 35 years of musical career.
Parsons has been a friend of Syntek for a long time and was wrapping up his tour in March.
“So, I said to him, “Hey, lend me your band,” and he said, ‘Sure,’” Syntek said to the Fresno Bee. “So, I’m happy because they are top-notch musicians—they’re incredible—and the band is going to sound really good.”
The 56-year-old Syntek kicked off his sprint tour – which covers 8 states and 12 cities - in New York on April 3 and will end Dallas on April 26.
He was scheduled to perform in Fresno on Friday, April 17, at the Rainbow Ballroom downtown taking the audience on a journey through his songs, spanning from the nineties to the present-day including songs that were singles and became famous on the radio.
“Because many of my fellow Mexicans living in the United States happened to be in Mexico when those times were unfolding—you know?—and that is going to evoke a lot of nostalgia for them: ‘Mis impulsos sobre ti,’ ‘El Camino,’ ‘Más fuerte de lo que pensaba,’ ‘Lindas criaturitas,’” said the singer, who also promises a retrospective of his solo songs.
This marked his first-ever performance in Fresno.
“It’s a massive party because the hits just keep coming. People spend the whole time singing along—some songs bring you to tears, others get you dancing—it’s truly incredible,” said the singer.
“And best of all, it’s music for everyone; it contains no profanity, no foul language, and absolutely no sexual content. It’s very wholesome, which encourages parents, children, and young people alike to attend—at least, that’s how it is in Mexico,” he said. “My audience is just like Elton John’s: a crowd of all ages.”
Known for his major hits like “Duele El Amor,” with Ana Torroja “Intocable,” “Por Volverte a Ver”, “Sexo Pudor y Lágrimas”, “Corazones Invencibles”, “Te Soñé,” “Tú Necesitas,” and other unforgettable songs, the Mexican singer has transcended generations.
Syntek said he experienced a phenomenon that transformed him into one of the most popular figures of his generation among younger audiences—specifically teenagers—after they initially began making fun of him on TikTok. They created numerous memes based on his comments and anecdotes shared in interviews, which were sometimes taken out of context.
“But the thing is, after making all those jokes about me, it seemed to pique their curiosity; they started exploring my music to see why this guy is famous—why their dads like him so much,” he said.
Syntek noted that whenever he goes out in public in Mexico—whether for a walk or a trip to the mall— the people who most frequently ask him for autographs and photos aren’t folks his own age, but rather young adults in their late teens and early twenties. This, he says, makes him very happy
“Because my lifelong dream has always been for my music to stand the test of time,” he said.
Syntek has a message for all Latinos in the United States.
“We stand with you; do not give up. You are a very brave people—my fellow countrymen in the United States—and everything you have done on behalf of Latinos in the U.S. has been reflected throughout all of Latin America,” said Syntek. “We are a culture—I believe, in fact, one of the most vast, profound, and ancient cultures on our continent. So, I adore you all, I love you, and let’s keep moving forward.”
Aleks Syntek is set to release his new studio album, “Zen,” a blend of pop-rock with spiritual and tantric influences, in May 2026.
