A drone captured video of a driver who tried to escape police by dangling from a crossbeam beneath the Bay Bridge over San Francisco Bay, police said.

The incident took place April 1, San Francisco police said in the video posted to X on Thursday.

The video shows police following a reportedly stolen car through downtown San Francisco in a 30-minute pursuit.

“Stop your vehicle,” police say. “You are under arrest.”

The man behind the wheel drives over a spike strip, but the pursuit continues at a slower pace onto the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

The man stops his car on the bridge and climbs over the railing. At first, police think he has jumped off the bridge.

“He’s on the crossbeams under the bridge,” an officer says.

Drone video shows the man hanging “precariously” off the beams beneath the bridge, police said.

A helicopter, fire boat and police boats responded to the scene near Treasure Island, police said in the video. The man appeared to be trying to crawl under the bridge to the next tower.

After hiding inside a support beam, the man climbed back onto the bridge and was arrested, police said.

:”This is wild,” read one comment on the X post.
