More hikers who were stranded due to Creek Fire get escorted down mountain
About 30 hikers and campers who had been stuck in the mountains as the Creek Fire burned nearby finally got to leave.
Deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department led a caravan of about 15 vehicles down the mountain along Highway 168, escorting those who still were at Edison Lake, Florence Lake and Blayney Meadow.
The hikers and campers had been in communication with deputies and safely sheltering in place while waiting for help in leaving the area.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department described the situation as a transport, not a rescue.
