Evacuations have been lifted for a wildfire that sparked Tuesday in California’s wine country and grew to more than 500 acres.

The Old Fire, which started just after 3:30 p.m., was burning 5 miles north of Napa, 25 miles east of Santa Rosa and 44 miles west of Sacramento.

Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit in a 6:30 a.m. update Wednesday said crews made “significant progress” overnight, upping containment from 5% to 15% with the fire holding at 570 acres.

Evacuations for several areas along Soda Canyon Road were lifted Wednesday morning, but Cal Fire cautioned motorists “as fire equipment will be parked, working, and traveling along the road.” The road is only open to residents, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
