85-foot boat a total loss after Sacramento River fire — who will salvage vessel unknown
A privately-owned 85-foot boat moored on the Sacramento River was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday evening.
At 6:38 p.m., the Sacramento Fire Department announced in a social media post that restrictive access issues made extinguishing the blaze near the 2100 block of Garden Highway difficult. The vessel tied off near Bryte Bend was a total loss, firefighters said.
Capt. Keith Wade, a spokesman for the department, said on Wednesday that the flames were extinguished late Tuesday night.
According to Wade, the boat, named the All American, remained visible and it was unclear which agency would be responsible for handling the salvage.
The fire department also announced that they had alerted both the Coast Guard and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of the fire. According to Wade, Fish and Wildlife responded to the oil spill caused by the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
