Forward progress stopped at Bay Fire after numerous evacuations near Loma Rica
Crews stopped forward progress at the Bay Fire in Yuba County, after the blaze grew to 26 acres.
At 1:26 p.m. Friday, Cal Fire’s Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit responded to a vegetation fire near Loma Rica. Crews were responding to “multiple spot fires” that were moving with a “moderate rate of spread,” the agency wrote in a social media post.
By 3:30 p.m., crews had stopped forward progress, according to a Yuba County government social media post.
As the blaze first spread, authorities issued evacuation orders for zones LOM-E085 and LOM-E088 — areas east of Loma Rica, north of Marysville Road. Warnings were also issued for zone LOM-E087, and advisories for multiple surrounding zones, including southeast Loma Rica. All orders, warnings and advisories remain in effect as of 3:30 p.m.
