Original story:
Authorities on Thursday afternoon issued a mandatory evacuation in the Loma Rica area of Yuba County as a wildfire had reportedly burned at least 95 acres.
The Scott Fire started just before 4 p.m., according to Cal Fire’s Nevada-Yuba-Placer unit, which deployed several helicopters and other aerial resources to the fire, which is 3 miles west of Collins Lake.
The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office issued a mandatory evacuation for LOM-E087, the area of Wades Way and Scott Grant Road, Pony Express Trail and Cross Star Trail, along with zone LOM-E079. This means that residents in those zones should evacuate immediately.
An evacuation warning was issued for homes in YUB-E042 zone, a forested area with dispersed homes and buildings near Collins Lake.
Several roads in the area, including Marysville Road, have been shut down. Authorities were stopping traffic at the intersections of Scott Grant and Marysville roads and Brandie Drive and Loma Rica Road.
A temporary evacuation location was set up at Sycamore Ranch in Browns Valley, and any large animals can be taken to the Sheriff’s Posse Arena, also in Browns Valley.
The Scott Fire was reportedly burning at a moderate rate of spread in grass and oak woodland. Aerial surveillance from the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services showed that the first had three starts, two of which burned together.
