Grass fire quickly contained by Metro Fire in southeastern Sacramento County
Firefighters made quick work of a grass fire that threatened at least two structures Friday in southeastern Sacramento County.
The Tokay Fire, which sparked about 1 p.m. on the 8900 block of Tokay Lane near Hedge Avenue, was contained by firefighters in less than 45 minutes, said Capt. Parker Wilbourn, a spokesman for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
The fire had charred 13 acres, he said, but no injuries were reported. Wilbourn said the fire started after a balloon made contact with a power line nearby.
Video from Metro Fire personnel showed flames running against a fence enclosing several small structures and a boat as a helicopter moved in to douse flames.
