Two home were damaged Wednesday afternoon as a grass fire spread in North Sacramento.

The fire was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in the 2700 block of Oakmont Avenue. Roberto Padilla, spokesman for the Sacramento Fire Department, said the fire was knocked down within about 20 minutes. But it had quickly spread into backyards, threatening five homes. No injuries were reported.

Padilla said 35 firefighters were on scene.

The fire occurred as the temperature reached 105 degrees, he said. The cause has not been determined.
