These devastating aerial views show home after home destroyed by wildfire in California

California Army National Guard pilots flew over Pacific Palisades Wednesday on a UH-60 Black Hawk to observe the widespread damage to communities caused by the Los Angeles area wildfires.

The California Army National Guard was activated to help support first responders and emergency services fighting the fires in Los Angeles County. More than 2,500 National Guard members are manning traffic control points, providing security and serving in aerial and ground firefighting with state and local authorities.

Containment of the Eaton and Palisades fires increased overnight as winds weakened. The Palisades Fire, burning in Pacific Palisades, Malibu and Topanga, inched up to 22% containment. The Eaton fire, affecting Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre, was 55% contained, based on CalFire estimates at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

Palisades Fire has charred 23,713 acres and the Eaton Fire 14,117, according to Cal Fire. About 12,000 structures have been damaged of destroyed. The death toll sat at 25 on Thursday.
