Fire south of Lake Oroville burns 150 acres

A wildland fire in Butte County, south of Lake Oroville, has burned 150 acres and was reported 10 percent contained Friday night.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reports that the fire started about 2:15 p.m. Friday in the area of Lumpkin and Forbestown roads, near Robinson Mills.

The first engine arriving at the scene reported a 10-acre fire burning in heavy brush and timber, according to Cal Fire. By about 9 p.m., the fire had grown to 150 acres. Fire crews, assisted by aircraft, are working in steep terrain. About 160 personnel are on scene.

Cal Fire reports that evcuation warninggs have been issued for Ponderosa Way between Lower Forbestown Road and the Ponderosa Reservoir. Traffic on Ponderosa Way and Lower Forbestown Road is being controlled, with only residents and emergency vehicles allowed in the area.
