Dog dies as fire sweeps through duplex in Rancho Cordova
A fire killed a dog, destroyed half of a duplex and damaged the adjoining unit Wednesday morning in Rancho Cordova.

— MetroFire Sacramento (@metrofirepio) September 16, 2015The 7 a.m. fire on Reba Court sent smoke skyward that could be seen along Highway 50. The fire began in the garage on one side of the duplex and spread through the attic into the adjoining unit.
The unit where the fire began in the garage was destroyed while 50 percent of the adjacent unit was damaged. Total damage was estimated at $300,000.
Occupants in both units escaped uninjured.
Cause of the fire has not been determined.
