Tanker trucks burn in parking lot near Sutter’s Landing Regional Park

Two tanker trucks filled with tar for road paving caught fire Wednesday afternoon in a parking lot near the dog park at Sutter’s Landing Regional Park in Sacramento.

Chris Harvey, Sacramento Fire Department spokesman, said the fire started about 1:40 p.m. in a construction parking lot at the end of 28th Street. The trucks were parked, he said, noting that no collision was involved.

The fire was controlled within about 20 minutes. Harvey said no one was injured and no structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
