Disaster recovery centers open for survivors of Valley and Butte fires

Disaster recovery centers serving survivors of the devastating Valley and Butte fires are scheduled to open at noon Monday.

The Lake County center will open at the Middletown Senior Center at 21256 Washington St. in Middletown, and provide services from 8 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays. The Calaveras County center sets up at the county government office at 891 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas and runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Regular hours will begin at both centers on Tuesday.

The centers will be run by the California Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in partnership with county and local agencies.

Survivors with losses are encouraged to register for assistance before going to the disaster recovery center by calling 800-621-3362 or

(TTY) 800-462-7585. They can also go online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by using a Web-enabled mobile device at m.fema.gov.
