Wind-driven fire burns up Woodland farmer’s hay

A 200-acre fire devoured about $50,000 of a Woodland area farmer’s already cut hay.

Woodland Fire Department firefighters responded to the blaze Monday on East Beamer Street near County Road 102. Crews on the first engine to arrive reported that the fire had burned about 4 acres and was being driven by wind.

More firefighters from around Yolo County were called to assist the Woodland department. The fire was eventually contained at 200 acres after 14 fire engines and 42 firefighters responded.
