California governor, others get own bobbleheads after Fauci’s and Birx’s raised $160K
The governors of four states will get their own bobbleheads after versions of top federal health officials overseeing the coronavirus pandemic response raised thousands for health care workers, an organization says.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum announced bobbleheads for California Gov. Gavin Newsom, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers.
The museum previously released bobbleheads of Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, and Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator.
Evers, a self-described bobblehead enthusiast, tweeted that he was honored.
With each sale of those bobbleheads, the museum donated $5 to Protect The Heroes, which is supporting the 100 Million Mask Challenge to provide personal protective equipment to health care workers. The bobblehead effort has raised $160,000, according to the museum.
“During these unprecedented times, we want to continue to raise funds for an amazing cause while putting a smile on people’s faces with bobbleheads,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said in a news release. “We received a lot of requests to make bobbleheads of these four governors who have been instrumental in the continued fight against COVID-19, so we’re excited to be unveiling these bobbleheads today.”
DeWine’s and Newsom’s bobbleheads will depict them standing at a podium while Cuomo and Evers are seated at a table — as viewers are used to seeing.
The bobbleheads cost $25 plus $8 shipping. Pre-orders are being accepted, and they’ll be sent to customers in July, the museum says.
