Sacramento and Yolo announce coronavirus test site openings in low-income areas

Sacramento County is partnering with the National Guard to reopen four of five recently closed coronavirus testing centers in lower-income communities next week.

Yolo County announced it also will open testing sites for uninsured people for one week.

Starting next week, Sacramento will reopen four sites one day a week, with weekly reassessments of whether or not to keep them in operation. The centers were closed this week after the county’s testing partner, UC Davis Medical Center ran low on materials:

  • Tuesday, July 14 – Natomas Unified School District (1931 Arena Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95934)
  • Wednesday, July 15 – Robertson Community Center (3525 Norwood Avenue)
  • Thursday, July 16 – La Familia’s Maple Neighborhood Center (3301 37th Ave, Room 7; park on 36th Ave)
  • Friday, July 17 – South Sacramento Christian Center (7710 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95823; This site will also service clients from Tetteh Pediatric Health)

Appointment priority will be given to people whose previous appointments were canceled when the sites closed.

The National Guard set up a testing facility for Thursday, July 9, at the Valley-Hi Library, 7400 Imagination Parkway in Elk Grove, on a limited, first-come, first-served basis while testing supplies last.

Yolo County opens free testing

Yolo County will partner with Elica Health Centers for free coronavirus testing for uninsured residents and Medi-Cal patients July 13 through 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed an hour at lunch), at the Elica Health Center, 1276 Halyard Drive in West Sacramento.

Residents must wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
