El Dorado officials report man from Placerville area is county’s second coronavirus death
El Dorado County reported on Monday its second death due to complications of COVID-19. The man was between the ages of 50 and 64 from the Placerville area. He died in an undisclosed out-of-county hospital, county spokeswoman Carla Hass said.
No other details about the man were released, including when he died.
The death comes 24 days after the county’s first coronavirus-related fatality on July 18, when a Tahoe man over the age of 65 died.
Cases of the coronavirus now total 755 in the county, with 26 new cases reported Monday. New cases included 11 in the South Lake Tahoe area, six in Placerville and three in El Dorado Hills. Hospitalizations increased by one patient to four in total, with two patients in intensive care. El Dorado County has 12 ICU beds available.
The county has a relatively low case total, making it the only county in the Sacramento region to not be placed on the state’s coronavirus watchlist.
