Where to find your COVID booster in Sacramento, as California OKs shot for all adults
California’s top health official says ‘supply is available’ for COVID-19 boosters and adults who are six months past their original shots should get one.
If you think you would benefit from it, then go, the state said Nov. 10.
Dr. Mark Ghaly said that guidance is in line with the federal government’s eligibility rules for booster shots, which say anyone over 18 who got their vaccines at least six months ago and has an underlying medical condition or works or lives in a high-risk setting may get one. He said Californians should get boosters — and flu shots — before Thanksgiving, as Gov. Gavin Newsom warns of a winter surge.
All three major boosters available in the United States — Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer — are approved for the additional dose.
Here’s what you should know:
What to bring to your booster appointment
Bring your vaccination card, some type of identification with your name on it and your health insurance, if you have it.
However, you do not need a government issued ID or health insurance to receive the vaccine. Eligible undocumented individuals will receive the vaccine regardless of immigration status, according to the California Department of Public Health.
